The Adult Degree Completion (ADC) program offered through Westernis intended for off-campus, non traditional students interested in completing their bachelor’s degree. Delivered entirely online and asynchronously, ADC is designed for individuals who aspire to earn their undergraduate degree while continuing to live and work beyond the traditional Western community.
ADC currently offers two majors: Business Communication and General Studies. Students who successfully complete the Business Communication major gain basic theoretical knowledge and practical skills in the areas of marketing, accounting, finance, management, interpersonal communication, social media, public relations, technical writing, conflict management, and ethics. Students who complete the General Studies major work through an individualized study plan that requires a selection of courses from three areas; Culture and Society, Education and Human Development, and Business, Communication and Media.
The Business Communication major within ADC also offers a twelve-credit Digital Marketing Specialization to augment student skills in the areas of graphic arts, social media design and analytics, and consumer behavior. For the General Studies major, there is an optional twenty-seven credit Colorado Teacher Licensure pathway for students to earn their teaching license in either Elementary Education, Special Education, or Secondary/K-12 Education.
Capstone Course Requirement
The following course fulfills the capstone course requirement for either major in Adult Degree Completion: ADC 490 Capstone. If a student is pursuing the optional Teacher Licensure pathway, ADC 490 Capstone is waived as the licensure track fulfills the capstone requirement.
